:DThought I would start this one as I'm quite new on here and there seem to be a few people from Kent....Anyway hands up if your from Kent ...and any ideas of good places to hack out.... with minimal roads...mine is ok with roads but a few others I go with are not so keen....
Also ... maybe we should have a NR kent meet up sometime?? :):p

Ohh Kent, nice and close to me! :D All the other meet ups have been so far it would be really nice to have a little Surrey one. My boyfriend lives in Kent so i practically live there half the time! However, i do not ride in Kent, i ride in Chipstead but from what i have heard there are some good roads to ride on round there!

Get yourselves to Bedgebury Forest - great hacking there, although it is TROT so you probably need a permit (although I know people used to ride there without one).
I used to be near Maidstone too, now in Somerset. There's some good riding around the back of Tunbridge Wells, sort of in between Honnington and the industrial estate - you can ride for hours on the tracks there.

Can you get onto those from Honnington Amanda? I saw they have the TROT thing set up...is that it? I am yearning for a real yard with things to do:o

What yard are you at? I used to be at Manor View which is called something else now, but it was opposite Forest View and we used to ride in Chalk Woods and the Forestry.

Hello yee all. I live nr Sittingbourne. Hacking, not bad, not great.Plenty of places to box to though and we do have TROT which I am thinking of rejoining soon. Have you seen the newish website 'Explore Kent' its a KCC thing and is really brilliant, sorry I don't now how to link but if you search Explore Kent then go on Walking cycling and riding it shows you maps and stuff of where you can ride in Kent. Plus there is a scheme DFRA are running. Go on DFRA UK Rural affairs and follow the headings, it shows maps and list of farmers who are willing to let people walk and ride on thier land.
I hav'nt had chance to try any out yet but would like to this summer. I have a box but I have trouble hitching up on my own and OH is always working.

Hahaha, how weird!! We rode thru bishopsbourne last time but pub hadn't opened yet n had to stop at the one in kingston. :D
Tina1958 - think we got a batch of those thru at the yard, but as always nothing withing riding distance. Should make the effort to box out more but not as easy if you dont know the area. Least on here ppl can volunteer as 'tour guides'!!

Go on the web sites. The book only shows a few of the rides. I found a byeway in my area that I did'nt know existed .
I know what you mean about boxing. I think I will choose somewhere, then do a reci with the dog before I ride it soes I can check out any pitfalls/parking problems etc. When I've done one I'll post to let people know what to expect.

OK thanks will have a look. :) We have a rep from trot who is currently trying to create some rides for us together with our YO, but all our adjoining land is MOD and I don't think they are particularly forthcoming.
Let us know if you find any decent rides!!

Hi I live in Nr. Sittingbourne. A meet up sounds daunting but fun especially if theres a pub involved. I have two cobs both well mannered and could box anywhere really allthough would prefer not to far i.e. 10-15 miles.
Anywhere else near us!

If you don't have any transport we could arrange something near you. Do you have any good places to ride. I have two horses one in a 15.1 cob (super reliable but xxxtremly 4wardgoing) and a 14.1 dolly mixture. Lets see who else replies it would be nice if a few of us could get together sometime in the spring or summer.

that sounds like a plan. Yes we have some woods and lovely fields we can ride around the edges of... a few 1hour and 2 hours rides about. Spring/Summer sounds a plan. Mine is a 13hh cheeky exmoor can be stong in company but he's usually quite a good boy!!
q a few pubs too!!

Ok keep in touch summer won't be long. I went out riding today for the first time since last November:eek: I rode my big cob. She thought she was in for another cosy groom. You should have seen the look of horror on her face when the saddle appeared..:D She was a really good girl though and we had a lovely hack. I am planning to get her fit for the Milstead ride in April. We went on the one in September and she got really tired half way round (bless), so I am trying to get her a little more prepared this time.
