Im not sure if King has bruising about his mouth, as i havnt actually looked in it before, but on Saturday he wa being even more stoopid with his head and mouth and accepting a contact. I didnt ride on Sunday coz i felt like c***! :o spent the time playing with him, and grooming him. Looked inside his mouth, and he has blackness all around the bar of his mouth. OK so this is a VERY bad diagram, but kind of in this region

Has anyone got any pictures of bruising from anything? Just thinking it might be part of the reason hes been quite mouthy recently.

thanks

Could be bruising, or could be natural skin pigmentation?

my gelding got very mouthy last year (or was it the year before  ) and i asked my instructor about it, i thought he had bruising too - in that area on one side. i wondered if the bit had been bruising him (his was nearer the roof rather than the bars - inside of the teeth)... i was considering changing to a french link from single jointed... anyway, instructor had a delve in his mouth (much to his horror!) and said she thought it was just pigment, touched the area and he didn't freak further (she had a hold of his tongue by this time to keep it out the way ;)) and then she pointed out that one of his tushes isn't through :o he'll be 13 this year and one of his tushes still isn't through but is just under the gum. we tightened the cheekpieces a hole (can't remember if it was one on each side or just one on the tushless side) so that the bit couldn't touch the gum near where the tush should be and that sorted it.
