I would think your horse is definately trying to tell you something
is wrong somewhere. Have you done all the usual checks? Teeth, back, saddle etc.

Sounds like he's in pain from his saddle or his teeth.

Saddle is leaping to the forefront of my mind.

horses don't just bite, or just kick, or just buck. usually they are trying to tell you something, probably just that they are hurt. if the saddle not fitting, if he has a tooth ache. instead of a horse whisperer you may want a vet check :) hope you find out whats wrong

My horse has bitten me ONCE--we had just gotten back from her first horse trial, she was veeeeery sore, and I was trying to rub her down. Turns out she was also very sore from having a FEVER! and a flu. She wiggled away but I insisted on continuing to rub, and finally she turned around and bit me.

When a horse who doesn't usually bite suddenly starts, it's an indication that something is WRONG. I agree with Wally; sounds like teeth or saddle (although my first guess would have been teeth!)

Hope you can get the vet out, hope it works out, and do keep us informed! :)

The bit might also not fit or be unsuitable. Please check this too.

All I can do is agree with everyone else - sounds like she's not too happy. Have her checked out just to be on the safe side - if everything comes back as fine - then maybe get the wisperer in.

When he stops in the trot or canter, are you or one of your friends taking up slack on the rein, or more contact? Maybe something is wrong with his bit. Tack can wear funny sometimes.

Hi
Yes, I agree with the other posts - vet first!
BUT! I have tried the join up with one of my yards new forests as he is now 11 years old and not been properly ridden as he bucks etc. We had the vet out for him and nothing was found, so I have tried join up & he is much better and since last August is being ridden.
Worth giving it a try, I have just learnt by watching others.
Good luck!

hmm my horse stops very fast in the trot and goes to a standstill but only happens when i lean slightly forward or loose my balance when im wearing my silly jodphur boots with no grip.

I agree with Wally. Saddle.
