My O/H injured his knee in a football game about a year ago & its not been right ever since.

Its on his left side & when he rides he leans to the right to take pressure off it & obviously this is affecting the way pony is travelling.

Can anyone offer any advice?? I was thinking of lenghthening the stirrup on his bad side so he tries to maintain the weight on that side, what do you think??

He takes some sort of anti-imflammatory for it & painkillers but he still wants to ride without hindering the horse!

my only suggestion to really get him to be balanced would be for him to ride without stirrups. I used to be able to do anything in our lessons at RS without stirrups, but it depends what level he is working at. Obviously if he's show jumping thats not an option

perhaps he needs to take a break and let it heel - i dislocated my knee last autumn that was v.painful - getting on after resting still felt unconfortable, so i contniued to rest it - and it did the world of good. i also think riding without stirrups is a good idea as long as OH is confortable, :)

I have a damaged ligament in my left kneecap which is a weakness that is from an old netball injury. I have to lengthen the stirrup on that side by one or two holes to make it comfortable. Also get him to request the doctor sends him for physio as that helped me no end. Now touch wood I have been a month without pain after 6yrs of it :) wish him luck

Thats exactly what he has-a damaged ligament, he has been for physio quite a few times.

Will def try lenghthening the stirrup & also try some no stirrup work(he has never done it before bless him, will have to try to convince him!!)

Thanks for the advice everyone!
