Jerrys rising 7 (so scary - seems like he was rising 5 yesterday!)

recently i've noticed as he's cominbg back into more regular work that his joints are clicking - in particular after he's been in his stable for a few hours, getting worse if he's been in all night.

i've had horses before that have had clicking joints but what worries me is that he was registered with the bsja when he was 4 and when i bought him rising 5 his "show piece" was jumping 1m30 after not being ridden for months and with only 15min warm up.....

needless to say this workload stopped when i got him and he's not really jumped either. he had xrays when he was vetted and passed.

is he just a bit stiff coming back into work and coming in after being running around all day or should i be paying closer attention to it? should i start him on a joint supplement?

My guys' back leg joints have clicked since I purchased him, pretty much untouched at 5. He never had a workload to speak of, so I know it wasn't that.

I've had the chiro work on him for almost a year, he still clicks/pops when he moves. Then again, so did my last boyfriend, he sounded like a pile of breaking bones when he sat, and he was in excellent physical condition. He claimed it didn't hurt, but it sure sounded like it did. :p

I was told it has something to do with the joint capsule being loose, it is harmless and not to worry about it. He has never had any issues stemming from the noisy body parts, so I didn't look into it any further.

i am very clicky and read somewhere that its due to air in the joint building up pressure and the click is the release of that air pressure- i certainly feel better after clicking my fingers... saw someone crack their neck today
i would possibly take longer to warm up and cool down. it could be from the change from heavy workload to light back into more work load i suppose

I doubt it has anything to do with his life so far. Have a chat with your vet. I know someone who put their mare on veg oil to help with clicky joints. Cheaper than supplements. ;)
