I was wondering whether you can give me any info on anything I can try on my horse. He's had some pelvic issues in the past & would like to be able to help him relax & loosen his muscles around that area. He has had shiatsu in the past & seemed to thoroughly enjoy this...sadly cannot afford for anyone to comeout to do this so thought about trying a few excercises myself...any tips would be great. :)

Can you afford £16.95? ;):)

Get yourself a copy of 'Sports Massage for Horses' by Pennie Hooper, it's a really good guide for horse owners, with excellent photos and illustrations.

Alternatively, contact your local RC's who may be hosting a workshop or demo - I am doing one for a local RC which is only £3 per participant, it's a cheap way to pick up some useful techniques.

If you would like some exercises and techniques to try, feel free to pm me :)

Oooh, perfect! My physio showed my a few things to do with my boy around his hindquarters but I was looking to get a book to learn some more things to do, I'll definitely be getting this :)

gordysgirl, how about learning from a therapist? i did my reiki 1 so i could treat my own horses. The course was about £100 but means i can now treat my horse myself, as and when i need/want to :)

Have you thought about doing a one day massage course. Equi-Therapy UK, were I did my Sports Massage Diploma, offers a course for horse owners (Equine Massage Crtificate)....check out the website & see what you think.
