My horsey got to go out yesterday for the first time in ages and when I got up to the yard last night she was a very happy mud monster :D:D:D
Has anyone got any tips for removing wet mud from the girth area for when you want to ride?
Thanks x

i have the same problem!! even with dry mud, because my pony does not like having her belly and armpits scraped ... and all that gets the mud off is a rubber curry comb or the metal scrapey thing :o i did end up sponging the girth area last weekend (hose even ...). she wasnt keen on that either (cold!) but it got the mud off nicely, and i did dry it with a towel immediately afterwards. better than her getting chaffed by ouchy mud under the girth!

Water:o I either hose it off (bit mean if it's really cold:o) or with a bucket of warm water. I then give it a quick rub with a towel and tack up. They're still damp under the girth but no worse than if they were sweating.

Yep I sponge off the area with warm water & pat it dryish with a towel, then tack up & ride as usual. Mrs P isn't going to become ornamental just because of a bit of mud!

I sponge and then get the worst of the water off with my trusty t-towel :D
When I asked a similar question it was suggested that I consider a girth sleeve.
I ordered one off ebay and the thing never turned up and I got my money back through paypal but that's a whole other story :D
Upshot? I don't have a girth sleeve and manage fine without!
