Does anyone know if holly is safe for horses to eat? There's a large holly tree in the hedge in Jim's field & he thinks it's the ideal place to hide from this dreadful weather. However while he stands there he's also munching on the tree & not just the occassional nibble, he's stripping the branches. My YO just said she's never known anything die from eating holly which wasn't very helpful .

clearly he's entering his teenage phase and trying to get as many facial piercings as possibly. ;)
i have no idea - my mom always told me not to eat the berries, that's where my knowledge ends i'm afraid!

You could have a point there (no pun intended) because about the only hay he's really tucking into at the moment seems to be more thistle than grass . Sometimes I really do wonder about him!

No, he makes his own out of mud! Doubles up as clumpy mascara too :p
Do you think he's turning into a goth? I knew I really shouldn't have bought him that black rug :D

Im not 100% sure but I think its the berries that are harmful, cant imagine the leaves are very palatable either.

That's not so bad then because I couldn't see any berries on this tree. You wouldn't think it was very tempting but he was really tucking into it with his lips curled back & a look of concentration on his face, presumably to keep from stabbing his mouth. He was even chasing the others away from his tasty tree!
