What are the main physical traning exercise for a rider to achieve good results?

in a gym??
i like the cross trainer (legs and arms)
and doing weights especially leg curls etc they make your thighs stronger (i think)
also core work will make you more balanced (gym ball)

i find the beep test good(gets you agile and balenced)
Surfing is also really good if you have the time

try pilates for horse riders you will be amazed
