What would you recommend? Also what's the benefit of a humane girth?
thanks

Humane girths most misnamed product in horse world, only elasticated in one part and can really pinch. Go for one that is stretchy gently all the way thru and padded.
Budget option, a wintec one, they are really good and v popular and are stretchy all the way along.
Lux option, a Kieffer neoprene one. very padded and wash fantastically, mine is 8 years old looks like new. They are also quite grippy so help to stop saddle slip so our yard cobs love them too.....and really well made, the buckles etc havent rusted at all after 8 years. They are a bit padded for showing etc tho.

I tend to use a leather atherstone girth - but only a really soft one. Thinks my gp one is a cliff barnsby to match saddle.
Have used humane girths in past until someone pointed out that as the straps to girth buckles are connected - if one was to break then other would fall loose = saddle round belly & rider on floor !!!
didn't use one after that!
My dressage girth is an aerborn one I think - like a breathable squidgy soft leather like one - can't remember what the material is called! lol. But its nice & soft & never rubs tbs sensitive skin! :)

I have a Wintec one - used to have a humane girth but it was awful.
Also have Cottage Craft which last forever and have never rubbed any of mine.

I use the Thorowgood girths, have tried loads of others and they are all collecting dust now as I always go back to the Thorowgood. The horses seem to prefer them, don't get chaffed, and they're so easy to keep clean.

wintec chafeless girth, elasticated through the middle so you cant over tighten it and doesn't pull the saddle over on one side like girth with elastic on one side can do

I use an Aerborn with elastic at both ends. You just need to make sure sure you aren't tempted to overtighten elasticated ones ;)

I use the Barnsby Ergonomic Girth http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/products/article.php?aid=64897 It is very comfortable for the horse. It was hard to get hold off when I bought it about 3 years ago (maybe a bit more), but I don't see it listed anywhere now. I wonder if they have discontinued making it - that would be such a shame.

I only use Cottage Craft ones because I love them, and Red whose prone to girth sores loves them too.
However, I will need to buy a Stubben (recommended to me) for my new saddle, not sure where or how to get one from though.

I've got some wintec girths and they're quite nice but a bit sweaty. Roxy is happy enough in them, Mia hates them. I got a Stubben cord girth recently and every horse its been on approves so far. Even Mia seems quite happy with it and she's very fussy about girths.

I use a humane girth and never had any probs with it the only thing i will say is you must be carefull not to over tighten it, other than that very happy.:D
