Stirrup Irons

How are stirrup irons measured? My current ones are too narrow. The inside measurement is 4 3/4" and across the bottom they measure 5". I want to go 1/4" inch wider, but don't know what to order.

you should be able to get a finger in each side,between foot and stirrup.about an inch each side i think. measure inside along the rubber tread.then it depends on the boots you wear. i wear hiking boots and my irons are to small, but big with riding boots.
