so which would you go for:
at the moment I'm not doing any riding but come april/may I'm hoping to do some showjumping (and other things ie. cross country, jumpcross, gallops etc.) so if you were me would you go for a saddle pad or polypad?
If you choose saddle pad which kind (sheepskin, Shock absorbing, etc.)
Thanks:D:o

All depends on the fit of your saddle.
If its a good fit you could use a saddlecloth or a regular polypad (the thinest of the range).

polypads are handy in that you dont have to fiddle with straps but I dont like them as I find it hard to put my leg on ponies if they are wearing one.
I use a saddle cloth with a fluffy pad under the saddle

If your saddle fits you will make it too narrow by putting a think pad underneath it!
My saddles have all been fitted to take a thick pad under them - it means that if they get fat i can remove the pad so the saddle is a little wider.
If your saddle is a tad too wide then a thick pad would be ideal. I love the prolite pads, as does my horses. I also have a proper sheekskin pad that Kalli loves.

I was reading something a saddler had written somewhere how he didnt like that he fitted a saddle on a horse without anything inbetween horse and saddle then soon as he goes people stick these big polypads on them and make them too narrow i always stick with a thin saddlecloth/numnah on a well fitting saddle unless like PL said the saddle is to wide

dont like polypads - too thick and make my horse sweat. If your saddle fits then a thin soft saddlecloth or numnah is much better I think:)

I use a non-slip numnah as it was what was recommend to me by my saddle fitter :)

if your saddle fits then i would just get a normal thin saddle cloth, i've never heard a saddler reccomend a poly pad:o
