Hi there I'm new here!
Does anyone know of any yards where I could send my mare to that would do groundwork/nh/parelli style schooling with her while I go on holiday.
I have just recently had Richard Maxwell out to her and she is going really well but I am concerned that she will go back to square 1 if I just leave her for 3 weeks. I am in Suffolk but would travel if necessary.
Thanks in advance
Claire
PS Richard Maxwell is full hence why she is not going there:)

Can you not just leave her in the field, so to speak - or literally? She won't "forget" anything or go back to square one, and sometimes a "soak" of just turning them away for a few weeks has very positive effects and the seem to learn and relax while you're not doing anything.
Not all NH is alike - and if you are following what Max gave you to do, having someone else mess with it might be counter productive. As far as I can see, and have heard, Max has come light years from his Monty Roberts days, and has developed his techniques on all fronts. It will be hard to match what he has done unless it is with one of his people following the same approach. I don't think I'd try to mix it with Parelli, for example.
I think you might be better off to save your money and spend it on getting Max back when you are ready for another session.

Does the horse have a problem?
If I were looking for a trainer in the UK I'd go to Michael Peace. But he too is rather special and may be full.

Thanks for that have had a look is there anyone you would recommend or have experience of?
Kate F - I had thought that but I'm on a DIY yard and theres no one to look after her for 3 weeks on the trot, a few days would be fine but not that long especially as they're in at night.
Max himself says he has moved on alot from his Monty Roberts days nothing radical just different, not relying on join up and doing more in hand bridled ground work to prepare for dressage movements when ridden for example. I'm not a parelli fan (don't want to upset anyone, just my opinion) so def wouldn't go down that route.
I just want her to go somewhere where she will get some rope circling, backing up, spook work and general ridden schooling. Nothing fancy!
