Is there any difference between the action of the the full cheek or hanging cheek snaffle bits?
Thanks x

The action of a full cheek is the same as a normal snaffle because the rein & cheek piece are attached to the same ring, all the cheek does is help turn the horse's head & stop the bit pulling right through the horse's mouth. With a hanging cheek the cheek piece is on a separate ring, some people say you get a bit of poll pressure with them - I'm not convinced about that myself, but the fact is that for whatever reason some horses go better in a hanging cheek than a standard snaffle.

i use a full cheek (fulmer snaffle) as i need the full cheeks for turning however i use keepers on it so that i get a little poll pressure, if i didnt need the help with turning i would use a hanging cheek as i believe its the same amount of poll pressure as my fulmer with keepers

full cheek snaffles are different to fulmers - fulmers are loose ring, full cheeks aren't as far as my understanding goes. the hanging cheek is slightly more lifted in the mouth than the full cheek (or fulmer) and the full cheek (or fulmer) does help with steering.
