Ok so I had rubys shoes off and feet trimmed. Measured them and bought old macs original boots as her feet are very round and these seemed the best make. Measured her as a size 8 all round. By the time they arrived I figured her feet had shrunk as boots way too big.

I measured and measured and they still come up as a size 8 all round. I have even stood her on paper and drawn round them and measured that and still the same.

So why are the damn boots too big? Im sure they are. They are easy to get on. When not done up I can move them around on her foot. When she stands on it and I open up the top there is a gap about 1 cm between her hoof and the side of the boot.

If I do the strap up with room for a finger like it says, they come off when she goes faster than a walk, ending up held on by the velcro round her ankles like bracelets. They stay on if I haul the strap in tight but I doubt cutting off her circulation will do her any good!

I presume I need smaller ones but the chart says an 8 and if I get more, I waste more money if they dont fit.

What am I doing wrong?

The saddlery shop do a hire service so you can try them until you get the right size I suppose. Can you borrow some size 7s from someone and see if they fit?

Have you tried some inserts into the bottom of them? I think I still have a pair I could send you. May just be that her feet are an odd shape and filling the boot out may help.

What they measure and what actually fits best isn't always the same. If they don't stay on then either they're the wrong size or the wrong shape for the feet so smaller size or different shape boot would help. Or if the feet are very long relative to width then inserts at the sides should help.

I think they are the right shape as they are round and so are her feet!:D

Bobbin if you could lend me inserts to try that would be great, thanks!

I think she probably really needs a 7 though. Anyone here want to lend me one to try?! As she is going so well without them, I may only need fronts so may sell the back ones to finance size 7 fronts. If they fit I can sell the other pair of 8's and use the money for carrots!:D
