a jumping saddle has forward cut knee rolls
a General purpose saddle (GP usually used in riding schools) is slightly round but not as much as a jumping saddle or as straight as a dressage saddle and is suitable for low level everything (jumping, dressage, hacking etc)
hope this clears it up a bit :)
lots of people use wintec saddles- i dont have one though so cant comment on them (sorry not much help on second question)

You can use whatever saddle you like for jumping classes but at higher levels you'll probably find a jumping saddle easier to use :)
Jumping saddles are fitted just like GPs, dressage saddles etc (is that what you meant?).

yes that is what i was meaning for BayMare
Its just that a RS horse that i had a few lessons on had a GP saddle and a
wintec one but all the other horses and ponies had normal saddle why is that?
p.s xloopylozzax what kind of saddles does your riding school use?

it could be that the tack came with the horse, over here in ireland, you will find riding schools have a huge range of tack, and i'd its same across britain!

i dont go to a riding school i have my own horses.
we use dressage or straight cut saddles because we do showing and hacking rather than jumping
(but do occasionally jump logs and ditches while out)
