Cause boy do we suck at jumping this year! :(
I'm thinking its partly cause im riding in a new saddle thats not broken in and im used to no knee rolls. And partly cause we just suck.
Heres some video proof. Anybody wanna fly down and give us lessons ? lol!

I think I need a slap 'cross the head or something
Does anybody have some helpful tips for me to have better eq. over fences? (btw.. Im not 2-point cantering most of that cause I was trying to drive him out a bit more)

its not half as a bad as you say, the only issue you seem to have is what you already pointed out is the leaning forward, because your working so hard to get him going your getting in front of the movement,i know lots of these types of horses they make you sweat:rolleyes:!
if you work on transitions until he sharpens up and is easier to get going,
or you could use a whip to back up your legs aids and teach him to move better off your leg!
or you could look at his feed maybe he needs more energy concentrated feed to keep going.
the actually jumping is good he just seems to run out of steam just a stride or two out!
hes really gorgeous!!:D:D

Yes, well.. always, lol. I think jumping in a feild would move him out! Hes like a speed demon OUTSIDE the ring!
Your right Megan, he DOES make you sweat! Hes on sweet feed right now, but I was actually thinking of cutting him off of feed. Thanks for the compliment :) Hes a sweetheart!

wow the snow looks so pretty! You dont look too bad at all. I didnt even know you could jump in snow (we dont get much of it here!). It looks like he is just being careful over the jumps probably as hes jumping out of snowy ground? cant believe how much hair he has grown!

He just looks lazy.
My first thought was the snow? Must be hard to canter properly and really push off the ground?
Try and change some of the jumping exercises you do with him? Lots of small grids he really has to bounce, with one large fence at the end of the grid? Canter him over the fence then ask him to stand about 4 strides after the fence. This way he has to listen to you. He won't be expecting it. Next time he comes into the fence he should be listening and being more responsive. Warm up with lots of transitions.
Erm...will try and thing of more jumping exercises you can do to improve laziness!

He is a hairy beast :)
Suffering from a case of the birthday blues -- He's just realized he's now 6 and I wont feel guilty about raising the jump bar!
I was a bit sketchy on jumping in the snow at first -- But alot of people I know did it, so I decided to slowly raise it, and at any time if he showed signs of slipping I would stop.
Hes not actually to bad in the snow, we have a beaten down track! LOL. I'm thinking my friend mr.spurs are going to make a suprise comback.. I was trying to not use them but lazy pone just keeps making life harder
ETA: Were gonna start doing bounces soon and 3 jump courses

How is he at going forward on the ground? Whatever you get on the ground is what you'll get in the saddle :D You don't look nearly as bad as you think you do but it looks like you're doing most of the work. It's his job to canter, not yours.
I so love Wilson. :D Can't say I miss all that snow though :p Brrrrrrrr :D

You don't look bad at all! cute horse too =3
Just remember heels down over the fence!
And the reason for his slow movement might also be the snow, when it snows here, we ride in the indoor ring because it's hard on there feet to be going on the frozen ground, and also he has to move threw the snow! He's probably collecting that snow in his feet, we pick our horses feet when we get them from the feild before riding. So it might not be a huge problem because you don't show in snow haha!
You look paced and steady, just look up and behind the movement like other have said before! Don't dicourage yourself jump if you love it! that's what I do haha!
