Anyone got a rug trasher out there? What make of rug do you find lasts longest on them?

None;)
Kim is the worlds worst rug trasher - her's would last a couple of weeks at best. Kalli's not much better:rolleyes:
Incidently - when i put a much lighter rug onto Kim (a no-fill light weight instead of a medium weight) she stopped trying to destroy her rugs. - many horses find rugs uncomfortable and too hot.

Ditto the none answer! :o
I have a really old heavy canvas turnout and so far that is the only rug Dylan hasn't managed to trash - I keep an eye out on ebay and old tack sales for them but haven't seem any others so far.

derby may still be selling their heavy weights for £30 - normally £50 - which is still a good price, one horse i know has it as it trashes rugs so owner doesnt like to spend too much on him yet its still intact!
my rug trasher pony didnt destroy her fal - it was still relitively ok after she got hit by a car

In Kais old Paddock He TRASHED his rugs something cronic. It was due to there being Barbed wire alongside one of the fence lines, and he would walk along this leaveing bits of his rug behind on it!!
In the end I put up a length of tape and various obsticles to keep him of it!
In his new paddock he just has tape and walls, have gone all winter this year without a rip!!
Best thing to do ( if possible ) is Try and tape of whatever hes trashing them on.

Unfortunately in Dylan's case it tends to be his hooves when he rolls!! :o
I wish I could tape them up - maybe I should invest in soft slippers! :D

My old rug wrecker seemed happiest in Amigo lightweights. He pulled the crossover straps out of some rugs & if they were too heavy he would remove them by whatever means necessary  The Amigos didn't last forever but they did better than most!

Tyler likes to christen his with a massive rip. After the first rip he is really good and treats the rugs reasonably well, but if they dont have a repair patch on them they arent good enough. Every turnout rug he has has recieved a rip within the first day (although the HZone rug HW that he has on just now is not ripping Mwah haha lol).

kezzie trashed 1 bucas, 3 chaskits and 1 masta. The ONLY rug he seems not to want to trash is his m/w amigo ;)

Ive got Amego L/W rugs and Mark Todd M/W and H/W rugs and find they last well, they were the heaviest denier outer I could find! after 2 yrs my little rig, who I was told couldnt wear rugs as he would escape and trash them, has a few picks in the outer, but its still 100% waterproof

They can all bite the dust, but the cheaper ones don't break your heart  I used to love Fal rugs (£££), especially the ones with the silver interactive lining (£££££££££)! But then the gorgeous one discovered the joys of rug trashing, so no more expensive rugs for her! I always find Weatherbeeta Landa's and Orican's very good. They fit her well (big girl, with big shoulders), don't rub her, they perform well and seem quite tough :)

Horseware's Rambo and Rhino rugs, I have hardly ever had to repair these, done all the other makes but hardly any of these. Washed loads of Horseware rugs, but not done many repairs, they are too tough!
They are expensive but are worth every penny.
