Thought I would set up another thread for the 'Meet-up' discussion that was going on in the Ayrshire Thread.

Rowallan was mentioned and Muirmill.

Whose up for it? Any particular dates etc.

xx

im up for it jenny, 1-2 weeks notice to fit in work and my 2 horses should be fine, im in East Ayrshire, so both those venues are fine, i usually am at muirmill on a Thurs night watching my friends niece jump as none of mine are fit yet.

Yes, I would try and make it down to either. Is anyone going to the point to point at Overton on Saturday?

What about the 9th of March, its a Sunday (3 weeks this Sunday). I would slightly prefer Rowallan (only becuase I know where it is lol) At least if a date is mentioned everyone can say how suitable it is and if not, we can find one that is lol.

I would love to come along - but the 9th? March, I suspect Lucyad and I have booked a visit from a well known NR personality who will hopefully be sorting out our saddle/back/hip etc issues :D

Any other weekends when there's something on at Rowallan?

From what I can see there is something on pretty much every weekend. Mostly Dressage/SJ (stating the obvious here aint I lol)

On the 21st-24th March there is Showjumping (BSJA Adult) and the next weekend there is dressage - affliated and unaffliated

well why don't you plan a trip when (a) the weather is better and (b) there is something decent to see in terms of horses ?

We have some nice horse trials - well I know Blair is, so I am guessing the others are as well :p

And there is always the Highland Show...

I'm sure the scottish NR contingent would rally round and make you welcome...

Cant do 2nd or 16th (thats a saturday). Could do the 24th probably or the 17th although it would be good if there was something on to watch (and pass expert comments on ha ha).

I would also be up for Muirmill on a thursday night - might even take the pony!!!:)

eta okay just realised I was looking at the wrong column in the calendar :)

Perhaps just a good place to remind you all that you should only ever meetup in public places. NR is an open board so you never know who is looking in.

Just general internet safety, even although you 'know' people on a board meet them only in public places and preferably not on your own. make sure friends know where you are at all times and have a plan for them to contact you to check you are happy, my horse is ill can be a good get out if you feel uncomfortable.

Copying this to other current meeting threads

OK dates that are possible are:

Sunday 2nd March
Sunday 16th March
Sunday 23rd March

Think with all of these things it will be difficult to accomodate everyone :(

Venues

Rowallan

SNEC (there is a equestrian extravanganza on the 16th)

Ayr Equestrian Centre

or the choice of a gorgeous little restaruant where we can all pig out and feel exceptionally ill afterwards :P

Lucyad

I will be coming to the equine extravaganza thingy!

jenmac_85
22nd Feb 2008, 09:10 AM

Are you going both days?

Lucyad
22nd Feb 2008, 09:12 AM
Probably just one - not sure which yet though! Will need to have a look at the schedule and see what day seems best.

Nookster

Okay, I'll vote for sunday 23rd at Rowallan. Thats a public place so no safety worries. There's jumping on (I think) so something to see and I would prefer daytime. Sorry to not want to go on a massive drinking evening but I dont know you (Yet :) and I've never actually gone out and met strangers from the internet before (hubby's gonna love this one :).

I should be able to do both - Rowallan and the horsey thing - could be persuaded to go Saturday and Sunday asa well, I suppose - could bring daughter to one day and come myself for serious shopping another. Is it unaffiliated SJ at Rowallan? Might bring horse along if it is? (or if it is Intro). Havent ever jumped there - what is it like? I used to live down that neck of the woods, but havent been to Rowallan since years and years ago when I remember going to watch eventing (I seem to remember?).

Anyone from down there doing the Eglinton hunt pairs comp at Caprington estate on 1st march? I would love to but horse wont be fit enough, and I have sort of promised to help out at riding club team dressage at Ingliston. Oh well, maybe next year!

Adult BSJA starting with 1.05m Open on the sunday. Its very posh and fancy with an enormous indoor ring (supposed to be the biggest in the country or second biggest or something along these lines). Its got a bar and restaurant (a bit pricey mind you but they do rolls and sausage too). And a nice shop!!!

Sounds good - like Ingliston over our way. Won't be jumping though - we are still working up to 1.05m courses! Hopefully next year though! Would still come horseless for a meet up though.

Okay, so any other takers for Rowallan on the 23rd? I will never jump 1.05m again in my lifetime (and only occasionally by accident did I ever jump that height previously!!) but its nice to have something to see.

I quite fancy Rowallan on the 23rd but will have to see if I can take a day off work so will get back to you to confirm :)
