I'm planning on buying my horse a new bridle.

I was wondering if anyone could give me any information about the differences between different types of bridle available (eg hunter, cavesson, flash etc) or even point me in the direction of a website with this information.

Do you need to get a different bridle depending on the bit you use and/or the disciplines that you do with your horse?

Would be grateful for any info

Thanks :)

for showing and dressage you would need a cavesson noseband- what discipline are you planning on doing and what bit do you use?
also does the horse need a flash or grackle noseband?

Planning on showing (just at local level) but we'll be mainly doing jumping classes. Also hoping to have a go at cross country at some point in the future.

I ride her in a hanging cheek snaffle. About the nose band she doesn't need to be ridden in a flash but to be honest I'm not really sure what a grackle does :o

Thanks,

I currently have a cavesson.

Since I changed from an eggbut snaffle to a hanging cheek it's altered the fit of my bridle and it looks too far forward on my horses face, a bit too close to her eyes.

Could be a case of needing to change parts of her bridle but was planning on buying a new one anyway due to wear and tear.
