Hi
Does anyone ride in an Australian Stock saddle?
Are they simular to Western Sadlles?
Are the girths English?
Where do you buy them in the UK?
Any information wanted.
Many thanks

yes, we ride our ASHxQH in one. It is very comfortable, quite close to western, just no horn.
The girths are not english. There is a surcingle and the girth has only one buckle on the real girth.
I'm sure there may be some that have english girths, but ours doesn't.
Im not sure where you'd get them in the UK. I live in Australia. I ride dressage, but my mum and brother use one.
They are real confidence giving saddles!

I've got one here I would sell..............not because I don't like it.......I've nothing it fits now as I sold the horse I rode in it.
He always went well in it, and they are very comfortable to sit in.
However, because you ride in a long leg it's not easy to post in trot..........having said that they are comfortable to sit to trot.
Mine has an overgirth which comes up through the saddle flaps and over the seat, stirrups and saddle bags. Some of them do have a saddle horn, but mine doesn't.
One thing you should know is that they are heavy........if you're small and not too strong you may have difficulty carrying it, or getting it on your horse.
If you want to see one put to proper use.........watch 'The Man From Snowy River' and its sequel.

All I would say with Stock saddles is, make sure it is genuine Oz, not an Indian copy, they tend to come up very narrow, getting a wide fit is like finding hen's teeth.

Hope this helps!

Echo what Wally says, MOST I have seen over here are from India, cheap and cheerful, look out for the awful yellow stitching, dead give away and serge panel!
Oz :)
