I've just come home from work and my dad has told me that one of our neighbours horses has been struck down with laminitis!

Just a reminder to everyone ... laminitis is not a spring and autumn disease, it is a year round disease that can strike at any time!!!

Ok, this horse is fairly obese, fed on high concentrate diet and this is probably a contributing factor, but I just felt that every once and a while some of us need a reminder!

i echo that. mine got it in november. and again in january. she was on crap grazing and restricted. vet couldnt quite explain it either.

but i caught it early, so no permanent damage.

-> if you have a niggling feeling your horse is a bit off or footsore (they dont even have to be visibly lame), check that pulse and if you're at all confused, check with your vet *before* the horse is crippled. and dont wait around for the 'lami stance' to appear!
