Apple Cider Vinegar
All the medicinal virtues of apples are preserved in the concentrated apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar given regularly to your horse has the following benefits:
Cleanses the digestive tract and balances the acid/alkaline ratio.
Maintains the correct water balance in the tissues preventing oedema and de-hydration.
Eases joint and muscle pain.
Helps to dissolve calcium deposits in kidneys and bladder, and around joints.
Oxygenates tissues.
Used topically reduces swelling and disinfects skin wounds. Can relieve mild itching.

You do get replies; but you need to be a bit more patient waiting for them!
Anyway... it's supposed to be good for joints. Lots of people use it to help with stiffness and/or arthritis.
Can't say it did much for Gelfy when his hocks were stiff and painful.

It's supposed to make their coat shiny and keep their joints supple if I remember correctly. I think I remember you have to feed a rather large amount of it to have any affect. Good luck getting your horse to eat it though! :D ( Every one of my horses won't take a drop of it. Even if its a tablespoon mixed with a bunch of grain)

i feed it to J to help with the little bits of arthritis he has in his back legs. i didn't think it did much and didn't replace it when it ran out, but i must admit there was an increase in his stiffness. he's moving pretty well at the minute, and is back on that and cortaflex too.

I think Apple Cidar Vinegar is great. All my horses...and me are on it.
I'm not so convinced about what it does for joints. Joints problems to me are better sorted with 5* joint fluid (super solivex or something, can't remember the brand)
I don't find it works weel alone, however, feel it works most efficiently with a multi-vitamin.
My hairy legged cob was so hairy, he needed clipped in August. He was really fluffy by Nov, and I didn't want to give him a full clip as I was going to NZ 2 months later, and he would be out of work, so there was no need for the clip.
I put him on a multivitamin and cidar vinegar, and he shed his coat! He had a beautiful summer coat in December (of course he was also rugged well) and since then, I have been a huge fan.
I have four horses, all fed cidar vinegar and multi-vitamin, and none needed to be clipped this year.

I've put it in Mayoral's feed ever since I've had him. The only real things I've noticed is his coat is very shiny and smooth when all the other horses look like teddies in the winter and in the summer he didn't get bitten by the flies like the other horses, which he did the year before. Other thing is, he loves it and always snorts and paws at his bucket of feed if I've run out.

Like all supplements what works for one horse doesn't necessarily work for another. I know people who have used it and had great results with arthritis and others who have had none. It is also a good fly repellant but you have to feed it well before summer (in the caribbean they use vinegar as a mosquito repellent!). If you can get locally produced stuff from a cider maker horses tend to prefer it as it's slightly sweeter and are less likely to dislike it than the stuff you get in the supermarkets. You do need to feed a good glug to horses. Humans is meant to be a teaspoon a day so multiply that by a horse weight and it should be about right!

I use cider vinegar for Ted who has arthritis in his hock and I think it makes a difference, you have to get the stuff with 'the mother' in it. There was a hugely lame shetland at the rescue place where I worked, she had terrible arthritis in her shoulder, before she got cider vinegar she could hardly walk, with it she could even canter across the field - she was still pretty lame but it definately improved her.
