I went to the NEC last year, only went as the ticket was free, but it was well worth going so much so I was gonna pay to go this year but I cant make it.
I thought is was really good as they started parelli with a new horse, as well as going right upto how to do more advanced riding. There was loads covered, with so much to take in. Sounds a bit sad but I felt so inspired afterwards and just wanted to go home and try out all the new things I'd learnt.

Yes, I have been to many of them. They are inspirational and life changing for a lot of people including myself.

Yes, rather a lot of them. Very good fun, and as Janet says, many people are inspired by them.
I must admit to gritting my teeth and going to buy chips when I heard Linda's story yet again... but you have to bear the newbies in mind don't you?
With the benefit of hindsight, which is always a great thing, I'd say don't limit yourself to a Parelli savvy day to find out about NH. There are a lot of clinics going on with different trainers who have an NH type of approach, I'd go watch them teach and work with horses too. Maybe not so loud and exciting (cheaper!), but I think worth doing as well.

Got my ticket!!!!
It was awsome last year, nearly made me cry when they turned a frightned, dangerous horse around to the point where his 12 year old owner could manage her.
Well worth the money for two days of inspiration!!
I agree with others that the stories are a bit boring third or forth time around but if you haven't heard them before - all good and well.
Go for it - you won't regret it, just bring some butties, the food costs are pretty high.

As you will find out if you come to the conference vikkig this is a very human/predator trait! Humans values are based around praise, recognition and material things. Horses/prey animals values revolve around safety, comfort, play and reproduction.
If you could ask your horse I bet he would much much rather that you come and learn how to understand him better so that you know what he is asking for and needing. Since I have been studying Parelli my horses are way happier and we have a much better relationship.

I went to the NEC last year, although it was good but the set up was a little overwhelming for me...too hot, too many people but im rather claustrophobic :p The chairs are hard too so would recommend taking a pillow ;)
Spoke to alot of the team too, they are a very friendly out going bunch and its a lovely weekend away, we had a big meal with the Savvy club members at our hotel after the first night too which was nice :)

I went to the NEC last year both days and i was converted! i cried nearly all the way through it thinking "i wish me and my horse could do that!!" it truly was inspirational, and so joyful, and everything they said was true, we really need to step back to get inside our horses head, especially when teaching them new things, or teaching them right from wrong.
Example, my horse wont back through poles. why? coz hes claustrophobic etc.
its made me really think about what im doing, i dont teach my horses as many bad habits now, coz it takes more time for them to unlearn something than it does to learn it in the 1st place, its the same with kids trust me (being a teacher).

The ticket price itself is very good value for money. What ramps it up is having to get there, have somewhere to stay etc
(and resist the temptation to buy goodies :D)

I am lucky in that my mum lives in Banbury, which is not too far away (not compared to the total distance from Pembrokeshire). I am going to see if I can stay with her and then get a ticket, as I missed last year and there is some stuff this year relevant to us (ie lazy horse). Big cost for me is having to put dogs in kennels @ £25 per night

I got to watch a Parelli Demo a few years ago and did not like it at all. I don't believe in making a "show" of working with problem horses and I don't believe in "quick fixes".
I don't think it is about horsemanship and certainly not about teaching the horses anything. These shows are put on to entertain the audience and I find it quite interesting how he manipulates the audience.
I still think it is worth to watch a show if you get a chance - if only to make up your own mind. :)

I'm thinking of going this year. Does the ticket last for the two days or do you have to get two? It looks really good. I don't know much about Parelli but I've seen a couple of the demo dvd's and it looks inspiring :)

I am seriously considering going this year but the tickets are for both days and I cant seem to find an option for single days only - perhaps its two days or nothing. Its a nearly 3 hour drive from here so too much to drive home at night but accomodation will bump the price right up. Anyone know of a good local B&B etc?
I am a savvy club member but cant seem to find how to get reduced rates (think i should get a reduction!)
Also "we had a big meal with the Savvy club members at our hotel " - how did that work sexy? Would be nice to stay in a hotel where can meet up with others etc - how was that organised?
Need to get organised pretty quickly - there arent that many tickets left!

My husband bought himself a new car a couple of weeks ago so I wasnt going to get him a birthday prsent also but relented and bought him a gold chain - With big grin on face i said 'I hope you appreciate it - thats 6 riding lessons you know!'
He knows me well enough to a) laugh and b) appreciate the sacrifice!
OP - are you going to the conference?

I had a demonstration by the chap that came to get me started with the parelli training, we had bought the courses but were rather stuck. We decided to do a two day course instead of going to watch.
We got two days hands on trainiing with our own pony, I think that was worth more than seeing what people have achieved but not being told how to do it (watching a show).
If I could have afforded both, I would have, but the training and transport hire, was £250 per day, as we had to travel, there are teachers closer nowadays. Of course we had bought the first two packs at £180 each and carrotstick, halter, leadrope etc, it all adds up, so we opted for the course instead, as we had seem what could be done on tv, dvds, videos etc.
