Im a little confused to what I should give my barefoot clydie? He's going to be barefoot till his feet widen a bit more and then he'll have to have shoes as his frogs may be bruised
Ive looked at farriers formular but thats a bit pricey I dont mind forking out, but only for the best stuff!
Ive used biotin on other horses but not sure how well that compares.
He has good feet but chips the front slightly when he paws at the ground

i've cut out as much sugar as possible for my two. They are both on Baileys lo-cal with fibrebeet when they need to keep a bit of weight on and happy hoof in summer, or sometimes just the balancer alone. I was feeding magnesium to the big one but didn't see much of a difference, it seems some people do and some don't - nothing's ever simple! ;)

My barefoot Haflinger is on Dengie Healthy Hooves for the past 3 months (prev on Farriers formula) and nowt else and she has done great with it - it is soooooo yummy and moist (I feel like eating it) and has nuts and chaff and mint and garlic and biotin and is laminitis trust approved lo cal too. In comparison Happy Hoof looked and smelt like dry sawdust.

So if Clydie is a good doer and you want a simple feed regime, might be worth a try, its not expensive as you dont need chaff on top or anything else and its v appetising.....:D
