Has anyone ever used homeopathy with horses?
Im thinking specifically for mild muscle problems, stiffness etc, but experiences with any other uses would be interesting?

Just had a google and found this, no experiences of homeopathy myself, but for my health and social care coursework you have to define holistic and health and this comes underneath. Interesting stuff! :)

umm, not really relevant as it's non homeopathy but i;m using the herb Comfrey as a infusion at the moment to help her sore back/bruising. Have no idea if effective or not yet so only been on it a few days. the place i got it from also does homeopathic remedies for horses too though.

Im using Ruus Tox http://www.equushealth.org.uk/prod_details4.asp
I phoned and spoke to a rep and she said it will either work or it wont depends on the horse, only to use one tab twice a day as shes only a small new forest, and i should see a difference in a week if there is going to be one.
Only one major problem, their brochure quotes "Deliver one tab direct into bottom lip.....care must be taken not to handle the tablet too much.......sometimes it is necessary to offer a small titbit" over the phone she said to put the tab in the lid, then tip it into the bottom lip.
Needless to say i got covered in garlic, water, mushed up hifi nuggets, and wound poor amber up a treat, as she couldnt work out why i wouldnt just give her the bl***y treat and kept pulling her lip!

Lol Jenny yes you shouldn't handle them too much but just put them in a little bit of bread-soft so you can squish it inside and then they'll eat it easily. It's only strong flavours/smells etc that affect the efficacy.
I use homeopathy out of choice. Think it was hypericum for a deep cut, obviously arnica for bruising, aconite for shock, another one for ligament strain, silica-can't remember what for, apis mel for bites, use sulphur (I think) for my billy goat's foot rot/thrush. Loads of them and yes they work!
Oh and it doesn't matter the size of the horse/pony as it's not the quantity that matters it's the frequency of it that counts. In fact if you want it to be the 'strongest' then crsuh it and dissolve it in their water bucket. (the only reason they put on two tablets three times a day on the human packets is because apparently we don't think that one small tablet could possibly be effective!) Oh and you can also use the ones you buy in the health food store - not sure if they are cheaper than the 'horse' version. You know the premium that they put on horsey things!

I got about 30 tabs for £4.99 which i didnt think was bad.
Would it work if i put her evening one in her stable water, as she drinks almost her whole bucket every night.

Ummm I can't remember what the cost is now for human ones but I've got a feeling they are cheaper. About £3.99 I think! Still 4.99 isn't bad at least it's not double! It should work if you put it in her bucket. Can't see any reason why not and it's what I've done in the past. :)
