Hi, we brought our family horse about 8 weeks ago, my daughter is the horsey person although I did bits of riding over the years, mainly hacking and lessons at riding schools plus we had a lovely cob on loan some years ago.
We purchased our horse for my 20yr old daughter to school, jump and hopefully some local shows and for me to be a happy hacker. BUT she is quite a responsive ride. She is coming along nicely with my daughter schooling and lessons with the yard owner but she needs a more experianced rider than me at the moment. She is not nasty, never kicks, bucks or rears just gets confused with a more novice rider and I get scared!!
she is 7yrs old and 16.2h.
Sooo I was wondering if there is anybody around the fleet area that has a confidence giver that would be happy to help me get back into the saddle and start riding my own horse!!
I am unable to pay towards this as all my spare pennies are going to the horse. Could there be someone that would be interested in maybe riding a more forward going horse in exchange for me riding thier confidence giver once a week??? I am 5ft 5 and weigh just under 10st 12. Thanks

Have you checked out the mentoring thread in the 'Ideas for new features' section you might find someone on there to help.

For a little introduction.
hi ,im not a novice rather imtermediate presently cause i took 10 years off evolving in riding since my mare was put on low work and was ready for retiring.
and have gotten back into things here in england.i was trained in canada in western and english pleasure and some dressage but thats what i want to focuse on .all my horses i trained myself and to your post theres some other alternatives you could try also .Maby a good lunge at first to get the energy out or get someone who can help you learn to get on with your horse instead of "down sizing".reason for saying this is after you get your confidence up and have mastered the the calmer horse you may want after a more forward going one. From expearience this happened to me ,went from shetland to arabian to a throughbred.Sounds like you just need some guidence really but that just my opinion.
nice to meet you niebour.

:)Thanks Nicci for your offer of help, but still looking for a horse/pony to ride that will tolerate my riding :p so I can improve and build my confidence, although Foxy has been very good this week so may ride her today:eek:.
Went our for a stroll on her on Sunday, my daughter had me on lead rein:o
You are right Nicci, I was thinking that she is too much for me (although fine for my daughter) and wondering about down sizing but I am looking forward to the day when I can confidently ride her all by myself!! up for the challenge!

well, my feeling confident today did not work!! I went to get her in early for a ride in the school (the first time by myself) well I did take my mum with me and I'm 37!! anyway I thought if I can get her in from the field then I will ride, then if I can tack her up, I will ride, all Ok so far, so if I can get on her from the mounting block (she can rush off!) then I will ride. Managed to get on her after about 5 mins of trying and then lasted for about 2 mins before hitting the ground!! my mum said how do you turn this camcorder on and before you knew it she had gone into canter (not asked by me), straight towards the wall, turned at last minute and I rolled off down the wall:eek:
went and got the yard owner and he got on her for a bit as did not want her to get away with not being ridden. Well back to the drawing board with her and me. More schooling for her, she is a bit of a complicated ride at the moment and well me, thinking of giving up at least for a couple of more months and hoping that she will accept a more novice rider at some point.
