I'm getting really interested in equine massage and would eventually like to do a course in it. However, in the meantime I'd like to read around the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for good books on the subject or any to really avoid?

Many thanks:)

Mary Bromiley's book 'Massage Techniques for Horse and Rider' is very good, and I really like Pennie Hooper's 'Sports Massage for Horses' which is less detailed but has very good photos and illustrations, and is an excellent introduction to the subject.

I've just bought the pennie hooper book - very good!
My massage lady has just been out to my horse I mentioned I was interested in learning & she has offered to teach me the basics when she next does my horse. May be worth asking?

Another couple of excellent books are:

Equine Massage A Practical Guide by Jean Pierre Hourdebaigt

Basic Principle of Equine Massage / Muscles Therapy - by Mike Scott
(can be purchased through www.equi-therapy.co.uk)

Hope this helps....
