Hi everyone!

I know this was briefly discussed a year or two ago, but I was wondering if anyone might be able to give me some specifics on the difference (other than price) between the Herm Sprenger 4-H jointed stirrups, and the double-jointed "copies" like Dominus. I know the technical difference between the 4-way and the 2-way joints, but could someone tell me what the difference in performance-quality is between them?

I have stiff ankles and knees, and I find it SO much easier to ride without stirrups. (I would also like a pair of safety stirrups!) I heard that jointed stirrups would help relieve some of the tension, so I would like to purchase a pair. But if the Dominus irons don't help as much as the Herm Sprenger, I would definitely like to know! Obviously, there is going to be some difference in quality, but is that difference worth the $125 difference between the two brands?

Thanks so much! I would really like to hear from everyone!

My daughter rides and I do the research. The HS irons twist to let your foot out in case of a fall. The the copies only flex so that you can get your heels down.

This post on ebay has the HS irons for 140.00. They're really a 1/4 inch or so narrower because of the rubber that covers the joints, though.

I bought a pair of stirrups through Stateline Tack that flex and have spring action for about $50.00. I just took a look at them for the brand name and Stateline Tack is etched on the back of both of them. I do notice that besides flexing they "give" which eases the shock absorption required of the ankles and knees. I really like them and I liked the price.
