recommended feed amounts

Feel like this is probably a really stupid question but.... the recommended feed amounts on the back of the bag is for 1 day? so if you're giving 2 feeds a day you would give half the amount in each feed?

Yes, and ditto what artemis said. When I asked about feeding, eveyone seemed to think the guidelines on the bags were somewhat generous. Well they would be wouldn't they, they want us to use it all up and buy more. If we haven't killed ourselves on our nutty horses in the meantime! :p

ok thanks. thought they were guideline daily amounts but got confused because it seemed like loads!

It is really important to feed the recommended volume of feed per day, as each product is formulated to supply the correct amount of vitamins, minerals and nutrients that yopur horse needs for a balanced diet and optinum health and performance.
If you do find that your horse becomes 'loopy' on a particular feed, then rather than reducing the amount fed (which would make him deficient in necessary nutrients) without exaggerating his natural temperament.
