ouch! just had my first riding session in 10years!! (i bribed my horse with apples and mints before i rode to him, in the hope he would be nice!!) :D argh talk about hard work, it was really hard to just get a nice walk out of him, and an active trot!! and then I had to try and listen to what the instructor was saying to me!! I think it may of been nicer to just have had a little pootle about on my own for my first half hour to see what I could remember!! my hips kept collapsing (inside hip!!) and it was hard to keep my stirrups!! and my bum is sore!! (not my legs, but my seat... can I blame the saddle for that one? or do i have to take the blame?).. going for a radox bath now!!:D and I used my inside rein to much!! in fact i just spent half an hour getting told off!!! :D trying to remember why i love riding so much... help!!;) how long does it take for it to come back to you, or do i have to start all over again?? help.. xxx

Definately blame everything else!!!!

I feel for you! Having a lesson is real hard work whether your riding in between or not. My hips and lower back always suffer.

Grit your teeth and brace yourself for the next one!!!:D

I had a 20 year break - could hardly drive myself home after the first lesson.

Been going now for about 6 months and feel that I am a lot better. Had the problem of my hip collapsing too. Just got to concentrate on this. Still does it depending on the horse I am riding - ie if the horse needs a lot of leg then I lose it when I try and go into canter and feet slip through stirrups.

Good luck with the lessons - I'm sure after a few you'll be loving it again!!

my seat really hurt too at first. i invested in a seat saver and, although it's a bit dear, it really makes a lot of difference:):)

hi everyone, thanks for all replies, nice to know i am not the only one to suffer!! my 'undercarriage' (for want of a better phrase!!!:o) is killing me today!! ow! I am considering leaving the r.s lessons and waiting till we can buy our own horse (and having lessons then) riding unschooled school horses isn't too much fun..or is it just me? (yes it is probably my fault but its hard to inspire when you only have 30minutes, and haven't rode in years.. :( ) i feel a bit down i was so looking forward to my lesson, but ..?) ..i wish i hadn't left it so long.. :D thanks again xxx
