right now I've only been jumping low fences. I want to move on to higher ones but i'm clueless. Are there any secrets to jumping higher? how will I know when I'm ready? i'm going nuts here.by the way I dont get how you use icons and how you post pictures.

if you act like you have 15 minutes it might take all day,
if you act like you have all day it might just take 15 minutes

do you have a trainer? your trainer should be able to tell you when you are ready, and how high you are ready to jump.

high jumping requires a good jumping position and good control of of the horse amonsgt other things...and confidence.

If you are learning to jump in riding lessons then when your trainer feels you are ready they will start to put th ejumps up higher. one doesnt go from jumping little jumps to jumping big jumps straight away. The height of the jumps will increase gradually...some peopl find that as the jumps get higher the become more scary so you have to be confident because if you are not confident the horse will put on the brakes before the jump and you may well fly over or into the jump alone. - and that hurts!

horses also tend to get a bit more excited as the jumps get higher too.

if you are jumping at home and dont have an instrcutor the best thing to do is to gradually raise one jump and when you are confident you can adjust the heights of the rest of the jumps.
Also have someone there with you.

I believe the qoute in your name is actually
"Act like you got 5 minutes the horse will take all day, act like you got all day the horse may just take 5 minutes"
I could be wrong, but I picked that quote out of Monty Roberts first book!
