Hi, I've just taken on my first share and I ride late in the afternoons and just wanted to check how soon after finishing work can I feed? Any help would be much appreciated, also just thought any suggestions on when and what rugs to put on after work? He lives out and gets really sweaty. thanks for any help x

feed wise i ahve always been told to wait until they have cooled off and breathing back to normal
not sure on rugs... maybe ask the owner?

It all depends on his fitness.
My horse is erlatively fit and I generally work him for about half and hour to 45 minutes or take him out for an active hack for about an hour...
His recovery rate gets better as he gets fitter. I like to wait about half an hour at least, and check his heat by feeling between his front legs.
Good luck ;)

I work on the basis of 30-45mins based on a normal exercise, if I've worked particularly hard I may even wait an hour before feeding.
If your rugging after work and he's sweaty I would put on a cooler/fleece type rug that will wick away the sweat, try and get him as dry as possible before turning him out or putting on a stable or turnout rug.
In the summer, my mare gets very sweaty I tend to hose/sponge down after a ride, scrap off excess, rug with fleece for 10-mins only just to take off any extra excess and weather permitting let her go straight out for a good roll in the dust, she loves it and comes in brown :p
