The (in)famous Dr Dave was in our area today. I have been concerned about Fi for a while. She was doing ok at the back end of last year but had some time off over Christmas thanks to the disgusting weather, and that seemed to be the start of more soundness/levelness issues.

I thought she was coming right a few weeks back, but her right lead canter was 4 beat and felt awful. A nasty cold (me) and the weather meant she got very light work for a bit. At the weekend she was ok on Saturday in all 3 paces and looking pretty good. But went out onto the larger field like a bat out of hell, and motorbiked out of the gate...

and guess what, she came in lame :( not hopping, but not level. Not heat or puffiness or swelling. But there rarely is with her.

On Sunday she looked better in the ground work warm up, but as I soon as I hopped up, the walk was clearly unlevel so I hopped off again. She has been coming on (up a slight slope) unlevel as well.

Now with Fi I know she has DJD in her left hock - but she then seems to get referred issues elsewhere. It seems that the near fore get affected as well - it has always seems to me that it was a tweak somewhere.

So I felt it was worth the risk of trailering her, and off we went.

It was about 1h45 to get there. She loaded text book style despite the others calling for her.

Dave worked on her poll, neck (stiffer to the right), shoulder and foreleg (especially the left) and then worked his way along her back and worked on her pelvis. Finishing up with left hind.

She was definately moving better afterwards. Even the "sore" front leg looked better (which I wasn't expecting).

We'll see how she goes - though the weather forecast for the long weekend is lousy, so it might be a while before I get to ride her again !

Anyone else see Dave this trip ?

Awesome, I hope she's feeling better after he's played with her! I was hoping to box Dolly to Montana's yard to see him but a strangles quarantine on the yard put a stop to that (mine are fine and have never met the affected horse but rules are rules!)

one of the interesting things was how accepting she was. I think it is the third or fourth time he was seen her over the past few years. Previous times there has always been an element of her going "ooo that hurt !" i.e. not that she was bolshie - but that it was uncomfortable. (Like if you are having a massage and someone hits a sore spot - you can't help but flinch). She's never bothered with him being on top of a 40 gallon drum, that he then spins to move along the horse mind - and she *can* be spooky !

This time she was very much calmer.

And loaded text book again to come home despite me being solo.

I know she is never going to be completely right - but if I can help her just get along a little better...

Is this Dr Dave Seaman or Dave Robson.....?

Both are amazing although, Dave Seaman is from the States & the other is from Scotland. I've seen fantastic results from both.

;) Thanks for the correction on spelling.....it's been about 4 years since I last saw him work. I think it was one of his first visits to the UK. He does a great job & uses a very different technique.
