It's been like six months since I've ridden because I just never have the money, but the other day I walked into a stables I used to know through Pony Club and just asked if they needed any help mucking out, cleaning tack etc. and was offered to help ride whenever I have spare time and they aren't away showing =D So that's brilliant, I can get back into riding without having to pay for lessons, and I'm just very very happy about it and wanted to share it with you!
:D

It's great when you get free riding isn't it?!!! :D
Wish I could do the same but I just don't have babysitters near me anymore.

How wonderful that you're getting to do that! It sounds like life in a book--one of those great older horse books where the heroine gets to ride in exchange for working at the stables. It's really nice to hear that there is still such a place, and that you're getting to ride there!

It is a bit like those books huh =D I used to love them.
I went today, it was great. I learnt how to muck out properly (I never used to do it so thoroughly) and went for a ride for 4 and a half miles on a forward going pony =] While I was riding my hands and feet got so stiff!
The problem is, the last time I rode properly, nearly two years ago, I was thrown off (and had been the previous few times thanks to one particular horse) so now on this forward going pony, whenever we were trotting I could feel it wanting to canter and got a bit of a flutter of nerves in my chest. Luckily we didn't have to canter today. However for someone who wants to be a work rider in a racing yard this confidence slump is pretty worrying. I was just terrified of being bolted with. I know people ride fizzy ponies all the time and don't get bothered by it, and of course people ride out pretty strong thoroughbreds in the racing yards. So why is it such a problem for me? I'm really worried because I really don't want it to be a problem.
