treeless query for pony & growing child

dont know if anyone can help but - my daughters' 13hh native trype pony has a nice treed saddle which fits pony but realised today no longer fits child - am wondering about trying to buy treeless with the logic that theur sizing is about the rider - i have torsion treeless which came in a dress size of 2 actual sizes - ie 16 to 18 - would it be madness to buy a 16 inch treeless which would probably fit child for next couple of yrs - ie prob as long as pony will fit her - or am i deluded - pennies are tight & i suspect that i could end up buying a couple of treed over next 2 yrs as child keeps growing - any advice would be fab & any ideas on ways to buy 2nd hand treeless especially welcome

What does your daughter intend doing with the pony? If lots of pony club, showing and jumping, you'd be looking at a higher end treeless and it would probably work out cheaper just part exchanging the treed saddles when she outgrows them...

treeless saddles should fit the rider, not the horse, as they're a kinda one size fits all. However I personally cant get along with treeless, and it is a completly different way of riding to riding in a treed. However some places do treeless saddle trials, you could try that.

Treeless saddles need to fit the horse as well! You need the correct sort for your horses conformation and the correct padding otherwise you will be having problems.
Maybe try a size 0 (if they do them) or a size 1 barefoot london or cherokee, they have knee rolls and are quite small in the seat, but you could get bolster type things made up my a saddler or similar to fill in the cantle a bit to make the seat smaller.

I have a Barefoot Cheyenne size 0 for sale - brand new and never even taken out of the box. It is black and includes pad, girth and stirrup leathers - if you are interested. :) I bought it for my daughter but have now decided to let her use my Heather Moffett Fhoenix instead. I was about to put it on Ebay.

You could try a Solution saddle. Their factory and head office is not far from you, so should be easy to arrange a fitting.
Their GP has just come out in a child's size, so there are no worries about it fitting both pony and child. Also, when it does get outgrown, they have a very good resale value, which is definitely worth taking into consideration.
