i keep my mare on shavings i find it so easy to muck out its far easier to pick out the poo, its more expenxsive than straw tho, my mare is allergic to staw comes out in lumps on her neck.

My elderly gelding is on a deep bed of shavings as he's very clean so I take the poo off the top daily and the wet out every other day.
My filly is on rubber mats (whole stable) with a thin bed of straw. She's filthy so I take the whole lot out every day, let the mats air, sprinkle horse safe disinfectant powder on the wet bits and then re-do the bed in the evening. :D

I keep my boy on Easibed and I love the stuff!! I do have a very clean horse though :) His bed is a good 7" deep and I just pick the muck out with rubber gloves and get the wet out at the weekends (though most of the wet seems to drain away!)

My boys have great big 'princess' beds made of straw just because its cheaper :p One is a messy destructive sod no matter what bed he has and the other is almost OCD he is that clean :p

Gem's on shavings, full muck out, which at the moment i prefer but when PONY comes on monday he'll be going on straw bedding because i prefer straw normally if that makes sense. He'll also be on a full muckout x:D

Stabledry, which is wood chips NOT SHAVINGS. Dont know if it is available all over the country. It is very heavy and absorbant, so the bed doesnt move much with them walking around, unlike shavings where they can stir up a big mess.
Pick droppings off the top with gloves daily and take wet out every 2/3 weeks. Bed is about 8" deep so you can leave wet for months if you like till it comes to the top. But I know it is down there underneath, so my concience has me moving the top to the side and taking it out more frequently. £4.50 per bag put in about 3 every 2months. The longer you leave the wet at the bottom the less you have to replace. VERY VERY absorbant. NEVER SMELLS.

similar to cushionbed which i have used until recently but hated.........SO SO heavy to move although bedding did last a long time, it never looked 'clean' although agreed didn't smell either.
now on shavings but before winter want to put rubber matting down.

i like shavings on rubber personally. i HATE straw, don't know why i just hate it. Used to do deep litter shavings for years which i would always do on concrete but if you can have rubber then use it. deep litter is just a pain in the ass when you go to clear out the box & replace the whole bed, takes forever!!
