Is it OK to put a thin pad or numnah under a Suber pad to protect it from hairs or does it affect its performance?
I am waiting for mine to arrive (yipee), but have a very hairy grey pony and it will look like a polar bear cub in 5 minutes flat  (I know you can wash them but this doesnt seem to get rid of the hairs from other things....)

Hi Shelby :)
Are you using it under a treeless saddle?
Any pad used under a suber pad and a treeless saddle must NOT have a central seam of any kind. Most numnahs and saddlecloths do have a seam along the centre.
I always used a Polypad - but beware that some do have a seam. I wouldn't buy one mail order. I went to my local saddlery and made them have a good feel - it was the only way to make sure!! :D (And yes, they probably thought I was completely mad!!)
You can of course just use a suber pad on its own, but if your saddle has a wool underside (as mine does) the Polypad keeps it nice and clean.
And finally - you can get a Suber numnah which has the side flaps. :)

Scroll down the above page, and I think the suber numnah is the second item down.
If it's with a treed saddle, I don't think there is a problem with using a thin saddlecloth underneath as the saddle has a gullet.
