thorowgood T6 (are thorowgood remodelling?) - saddle fitters etc

i have a saddle fitter coming this week. I have looked at lots of differnt saddles, and for my budget - the thorowgood T6 seems to fit the bill. Obviously it will all depend on what actually fits him. However the saddle fitter that is coming said she had T4's - the cheaper synthetic version and L4's - the leather version but something about Thorowgood remodelling and not being able to get the T6..?:confused:

I dont like the T4 becasue of the suede bits and really want a leather look if im having synthetic - the T4 is about £300, the L4 is £700. I have just seen the T6 on Ride Away for £299 (reduced!) and elsewhere for £600 :confused:

What is going on here... is my saddle fitter right? I dont want to end up conned into buying a more expensive saddle if the one I wanted was available elsewhere..

I bought the T6 back in October and love it.

I don't know if it is being remodled?

At the time I paid £425 inc fitting.

Just to add that my T6 isn't like the one on the Thorowgood webby as that make no mention of the fact that the pannels are interchangeable too. :confused:

i think they might be remodelling as my friend had a brown thorowgood (not sure which model) for christmas that turned out to be an 18" and she wanted a 17" - our saddler contacted thorowgood direct to see if they had a brown 17", and they said they weren't making them anymore, but that they might have the parts in the factory to make one which they did in the end.

I think you'll find the new T6 has adjustable gullet as well as fish.

I bought my T6 Cob last September and it only had fish inserts, a friend bought hers more recently and it has adjustable gullet as well.

Yes there is a new version called 3d its in the new catalogues, and abit more expensive.

oh i see, just the saddle i am getting is a t6 cob, the saddler said the rrp is £450 of it and im getting it for £430..I just didnt want to be being ripped off if theres a new make...

this is the one he is ordering for me(as long as i say yes today but need to check price with the internet and you guys first)

i spoke to a shop who are agents for Thorowgood and apparantly there are problems getting stock in:rolleyes: They suspect problems in getting teh materials to make them maybe...

I also rang RideAway and they only have brown in stock (reduced) and are also waiting or more stock and thought it would be 3 weeks at least...

BW, have you thought about looking at the older thorowgoods (the griffin versions)? Frogpool had a shedload reduced. If you knew the model/size you wanted you could pick up a bargain. I got an old model griffin cob GP for less than £200!

I really wanted the T6 in brown. There are pictures of a brown one on their website and most online sites like Frogpool Manor had a drop-down colour selection on the order page. Even my local saddlery said it was available in brown. However, no-one had ever seen one in the flesh.

I phoned Thorowgood and asked them about it and they told me that they had never made it in brown, had no intentions of making it in brown and that their own website was incorrect and needed changed!

Seven months of hunting had been a total waste of time.

My question is, has anyone seen a brown T6 in the flesh or was the person I spoke to on the phone accurate?

i just had a nosey on the frogpool site and the T6 only has the black colour option. The older thorowgoods do come in brown, and frogpool have a brown option on the cob GP. I have one :) really lovely saddle.

I am so confused by thier website..i was looking at the jumping T6 but it only comes in brown on the web...on the way the my saddler i remarked to my YO oh id love to buy that saddle only if they made it in black but web said they didnt so thought no more about it, went into saddlery, saw the T6 in black:eek: yay 695 euro ouch pricey... anyone have one??:D
