Hi,
I have one overweight pony and one normal weight pony but recently I noticed that both of them seem to have a bump beside their flank area. Is this normal or is it a sign of underweight. They both have been on a bareish paddock to try to reduce the overweight pony's weight. I give them baileys low calorie balencer morning and evening and a small haynet of hay each night.

No,not at the minute. but it kinda feels like a rib, maybe the end of the ribcage. if it helps, in fat pony no other ribs can be felt but in normal pony, her ribs are usually just right. I did see another pony with the same thing a few weeks ago but I don't know the owner.

Do you mean the hip bone (pokey out bit that you can see on Dylan in this picture?)

do they have a regular worming plan? do you mean it dips in, as this can be a sign that they need to be wormed.:)

might be worth getting a worm poop count done just to be on the safe side, they are quite inexpensive. Westgate labs do them http://www.westgatelabs.co.uk/
