Stephens Gel-eze saddle pads

I have found the perfect saddle for my pony, it fits beautifully along the back etc and she seems really comfy in it, although this is without a saddle pad - I have been advised that I maybe best going for a half or gel based pad as it is a nice close fit to her shoulders already and a full pad may cause pinching.

Anyway I've seen these Stephens gel-eze pads and wondered what peoples thoughts/experiences were on them, does anyone have any recommendations for other makes as well.

I used to use one but it kept slipping under the saddle at the front, I sold mine in the end not that impressed:(

Thanks that's really useful out of curiosity was it one of the fish pads or the sheep skin ones with the gel pads in??

Sorry if I'm being blonde, but if its the perfect saddle and fits well, why do you need a saddle pad? A thin cloth type would be ok for decoration and keeping the saddle clean, but I should think anything else will compromise the fit of the new saddle, and then it won't be perfect anymore.

a half pad will still alter saddle fit ;) if you stick a half pad under a closely fitting saddle you'll narrow it and run the risk of pinching. if the saddle is a perfect fit it should need nothing but the thinnest numnah under it. was it the fitter who suggested the pad?

No my friend suggested a half pad, maybe I'll just try a very very thin saddle pad or numnah.
