my horse likes them wen i put them in however once he is halfway down he goes off it, the thing that worries me is that it is all sugar and cant be too good from them,

I bought one with the thing to attach it to the wall so I could just leave it with my mare, but even with the restricter bars on it should could polish the big one off in a matter of days.....safe to say she loved them! You just have to be careful and restrict the amount they get so they dont get too much sugar. I just use in now as a treat, after exercise or to keep my mare quiet when she's tied up.

I got the mobility one for my guy and he loves it i only let him have it when i am there cause he will just eat it like a sweetie otherwise.. however i got the huge Garlic one for the field for him and he only has a few licks at it when he first goes out.. Hes had it in the field now for two weeks and hardly touched it! he mustnt like the garlic taste.. I did lick it myself and was almost sick.. Its just revolting!!!

I agree with the other comments, my girls loves them but they are just pure molasses and sugary stuff so they can't be doing her too much good.

Why not try a Dengie Stable lick, they are much bigger and last a damn sight longer than the horselyx, so they are better value for money. They are like big white tubs, and its sort of like a feed type lick, and it takes them much longer to get through (even my greedy mare took a good 3 weeks to get through it!) Mind you, if your horse is a bit of a fatty or is in foal you might want to steer clear as they are a bit rich!

Also, you can get Himalayan Rock Salt licks, which are another stable treat that you can tie up for your horse. They are pure salt and aren't packed with sugars and colourings like your conventional salt licks. The mare next door to my horse loves them so I have tied mine in between the stables so they can share!

Hope this helps,

Helene

My boy has the mobility one and its in his stable when he wants it. However he only has a lick once in a while, they tend to last 3-4 months. Also have a pink salt block and that tends to melt more than him licking it. dunno why i bother!

My lad loves them - I hate the smell and the mess he gets himself in with them! I got him one of the small respiratory ones - dunno that they are any good really, but I only give him it now and again as a treat, or say if he's in the yard for a few minutes while I finish off his stable. They do seem very sweet though.

Dougie loves the orignal one.. but at the moe he has respirtiary.. but he didnt like it very much.. only licked it now and again.. so swapped with my brother and now hes got the mobilty one and he does indeed love that :)

I think ther're ok.. i didnt think they were bad for the horses.. i thought the small ones that come in diff colours had lots of sugar and were bad for them..?

I bought the mini Garlic Horselyx for Kai - he went mad for it for the first few mins, then actually turned away from it! This is coming from a greedy guts!
Saying that though, I wouldn't leave one in his stable, they are so sticky and Licorice-y smelling, they must be 99% sugar :o

I also got him the Himalayan Salt lick - I've never seen him use it and I can't tell as it's all bumpy anyway, hopefully he's given it a go :)
