Does any one know the answer to this?

I have a 6yr old 13.2hh New Forest who has jumped in the past and I would like to start jumping with him in local shows - but I am 25 and have been told that I can't jump on a 13.2 as I am too old, but I am only 5ft tall and light and look daft on anything bigger! I was wondering whether you knew, I'm not necessarily thinking of ever getting into affliated classes but just any small classes do at the moment to start him off.

You can register your pony and jump in senior classes BSJA. It doesn't make any difference how big your horse is!
Also there are senior classes unaffiliated without height restictions. There are also height classes without age restrictions although it does tend to be juniors who compete in these classes.
If you need any more info don't be scared to shout!

Hi-

I'm an ex-BSJA member, now an AHSA member (American Horse Shows Association).

I started out in junior foxhunters and made my way briefly into AIT's.

They didn't have JD when I was competing and we used to measure ponies in hands, not centimeters.

Yes you can jump your pony in B.S.J.A. Senior.

12.2HH is 128cm
13.2HH is 138cm
14.2HH is 148cm

The only classes you CANT do in B.S.J.A senior with a pony is Foxhunter and outher international classes. I think thear are some outher classes witch you are not alowed to take part in.

Thanks everyone - I forgot I had posted this message - hence the time lag in replying! That is really good news, I was worried I would end up with a super little jumper that I couldn't compete on because of height/age restrictions...

Well Im obviously not in UK but Im registered with the equivalent here, the NZEF (New Zealand Equestrian Federation) for dressage, eventing, show jumping and show hunter. Its so fun! I have done mainly Pony Club competitions up to this year and now Im in what seems to me, "the big league" :)

I have National Show jumping champs soon! (Im competing in show hunters)
