I was riding last week and i thought i'd try my 17"2 throughbred on a 1.5 meter jump, she bucked after the jump and i landed on her neck, i fell off and badly hurt myself and lost my confidence. Any advise?

my horse bucks after as well through excitement, what i would do when your better is jump her again but start at a small height and just get your confidence going over the smaller ones. slowly making them bigger and when your feeling 100% go over a big one this time though you will be ready for the buck afterwards if it comes :)
if you feel abit shaky inside i use bach flower remedies for my fear of jumping i use mimulus.
let me know how you get on

Go back to smaller jumps until you've got your confidence back, and make sure you are sitting up soon enough after the jump because i know alot of horses that throw in a buck because they know you're not secure in the saddle after the jump! :)

What heights do you currently compete at? If 1.5m is much higher than your usual you may have landed badly and upset the horse.
Sadly to compete at high levels in any discipline you often have to suffer the odd bad fall. A friend of mine who events says all his worst falls have been showjumping when it went wrong.

theres a helluva lot of difference between 1m and 1m50 though, and between 1m50 and 2m30
quite hard to confuse jumping 3ft with 5ft one might have though but there we go

Sorry, I am confused, was your daughter jumping or you?
Easy to tell what height you normally do from what level you compete at, Foxhunter, Open, Grade A , Internationals etc. Unusual to find a TB at these levels what is the name it jumps under?

I think if we change the Mtr to Feet we might be nearer the height ;)

Yes, agree with David - I think the OP means 2ft 3in, not 2.3 metres ! To be honest, its not really unexpected to fall if you went directly from jumping 2'3 to well over 5' - a horse CAN jump this height but needs practice, as does the rider.
If its the impact of landing that puts you off balance (and this is what does for me as well) it means your balance is not good enough. Go back to smaller jumps and practice, practice, practice until you are absolutely comfortable, then put your jumps up gradually. Don't go up another hole until you are comfortable at 2'9, then at 3', etc.
I am sure if you practice really hard and focus on developing your balance over the bigger jumps, you will eventually achieve your dream of being a BSJA Champ !

This might sound silly, but after I fell off whilst jumping, awhile back now, I really got knocked off my perch. Worked with my instructor and other things, but it didn't work, my confidence stayed shakey. Something that funnily enough I found helped, was watching a lot of showjumping videos on youtube (usually more experienced people), its helped me A LOT, so maybe it would help you?...
