Hi, i'm here on behalf of a young man with downs syndrome who adores horse/pony riding. Personally i have no clue about any of it, but i work with him on a friday as his PA and he has made it quite clear that he'd like to have pony rides or something similar as one of the activities we do together. Basically what i'm looking for is a place in oldham/manchester/rochdale that provides affordable pony rides. After searching the internet for what seems like forever i've not found very many barring Heaton Park, and sadly they rest their horses on fridays (which is the day we're searching for.) If anyone could point me in the right direction, it'd be most appreciated =)

The best bet I can think of is Birtle riding school in Bury. They're an RDA riding centre, have an indoor school and are local to lots of nice bridleways. I'm not sure what they do in terms of lessons/ rides out, but it would certainly be worth speaking to them. Contact details are here - http://www.abrs-info.org/england/lancs.htm

Perhaps contacting the RDA would be good too - you could find out when and where your local group meets?
