Can anyone tell me how the prelim tests work please? How many of them are there? Is test 1 the easiest or the hardest? My instructor is muttering about trying prelim 6 but I don't know what this actually means. Many thanks!

prelim is the easiest level of dressage test. prelim 6 is a particularly inviting one. (although they've changed them this year, and it's the new prelim 4) they're all roughly the same level of difficulty, but some are slightly more complicated than others. there are about 20 (i think) - it doesn't go in order of difficulty. prelim 6 is definitely nothing to be scared of!

Thanks Es, you've told me exactly what I wanted to know. I'll try and get hold of the new prelim 4 and see what I'm supposed to do - I'm just really nervous about doing it in front of strangers! Anyway, you've really helped, at least I know what I'm aiming for now! Thanks again.

if they do, i'd love a copy as well - have just entered my first ever competitive dressage test - prelim 4 at kingston maurward - on my birthday! she'd better behave herself...
although i know in my head i've done much harder things and lived to tell the tale, it's a bit different now! i really want to do serious dressage with petal in the long term, maybe even affiliate her, so i'm hoping i don't let her down.

I can't e-mail the tests off here as I can't seem to get the attachment to work. post your e-mail if you want the tests sending and tell me if you want it in Lotus Word Pro or Microsoft Word 7.0. Not sure how it will come out in MSWord format wise but worth a try.
