This is a bit of an essay, but I have been doing research into all this and my biggest problem is finding a supplier as well as anting people experiences.

I need help. I have a 10x10 stable which my cob uses at night in the winter and in the day in the summer. It has an earth base as we don't want to spend a fortune concreteing somewhere we only rent.

We are now on take 2 of the rubber matting set up, designed up by my engineer father inlaw!!!

We have now a plastic mesh grid on the earth in one direction . Then a thick layer of ploythene, then another mesh grid laid the opposite way and the rubber mating on top.

The theory bieng the bottom mesh will provide a firm base and the top mesh will allow urine through to the polytheneto flow of towards the back of the stable to our "natural drainage system" (designed by moles and old culverts I think, it seems to flow away anyway!!) been down 2 weeks Seems to doing to okay so far, except the poo and wee or the matting with my horses lying down is unacceptabley un hygenic.

SO Now we have a question on bedding. on our take, I used shavings and then coardboard when we had just matting on bear eath covered with polythene but that was crap, I didn't use a thick bed as I always thought that was idea of rubber matting, so we basicly ended up doing a near on full on muck out every day, very expensive, husband not impressed. It was messy and it stank.

what does anyone think about using this wood pellet bedding thickly, if so how thick, is it as econmical as it sound (I am asuming I need to make an initial outlaw to get a really good base, but there after, what can I expect? Also, where the hell can get it from in worcestershoire or noth gloucestershire?

any suggestions very much appreciated
:)
