with only being a beginner, is there a rider weight limit for a pony. I'm 6'2''and 13st ? are different breeds better weight carriers?

A horse/pony with good deep bone, and a deep girth should be able to carry up to a stone per hand of height. Ie if the horse is a thickset Native pony, of 13hh, it should be able to carry up to around 13 stone, and the deep girth would take upmost of your leg, so you wouldn't have to worry about being underhorsed.
However, a slimmer, narrowed horse/pony with less depth of bone and girth, obviously won't be able to carry as much weight as its thicker-set relatives.

petal, at 14hh, carries 13 stone with no trouble at all. at your height though, you'd probably unbalance a pony that short. a bigger forester, or a highland, or a welsh cob (which can be bigger - up to about 15.2hh) would be perfect for you. welsh cobs, or other types of cob (apart from welsh ones, it's a type, rather than a breed) are great weight carriers and would carry you without thinking twice.

Dales ponies are great weight carriers as they are built like tanks.
My pony Ridgelane Sam is 14.2hh and can carry up to about 16 stones quite happily. As they have a deep girth they are great if you have long legs as you can wrap your legs around them (I'm 5 feet 9 inches tall.)
Hope this helps.
