Ok so it is not show jumping but it is still jumping ;) Went to have a watch at a cross country course today as two of the girls on the yard were competing. One of them has been telling me for months how the minimise was easy. I did not know how easy it looked. There was even a girl riding a grey mare and she just trotted round and when she came to the jumps she pulled up and just popped over them . Wow I thought I could do that I am sure :D However it looks like I could have lost my pony to the young girl on the yard (11-12 yrs old) as she wants to take Rhi into the cross country and show jump her. Had a word with her mum and she is happy for her to do it.

Minimus courses are usually 2ft3, the aim is to get people around without any trouble. The courses are straight forwards without anything trappy and are there for novice horses/riders to give some confidence.

my parents might let me go to a sleepaway riding camp in the summer for 2 weeks and do the advanced session where the campers get to do dressage, jumping, cross country, and more. I've always wanted to try cross country.

i love XC. I competed in hunter trials in October and did the little course. I trotted over the majority of the jumps with no problems and got clear. In May I did a two phase which was my first time doing XC and the only reason why I had refusals was due to my inexperience as I took the start of the course to fast and Maverick was so exhausted by the end.

I used to have a little pony mare that I evented... she jumped up to four feet with me and it was fun! If your horse is brave and willing, eventing is awesome! There are a few pics of her cross country here: http://www.itsmysite.com/starbaby
Of course, that was a few years ago.. sadly, her owners are selling her now.. so anyone interested in a 14.1hh mare that has schooled up to 4'3... I'm your woman!
