hi there.
my friesian warmblood filly CF benae, is by a black friesian, which has all black lines, out of a skewbald mare which has tobiano lines back 2 lines. she started as a baby looking like this.............

then turned out like this in summer..............

then like this in winter..............

and now she is coming through with her summer coat, which is coming through like her muzzle, vey light and almost dun colour, but her legs, mane and tail are staying black, and the top of her back and rib area is blacking still. its mainly round her legs, from the black bits upwards, and her neck and up her gullet. behind her ears and round her eyes is fading to look a bit like dun. what are the chances of her going dun? or what colour may she be going?
thanks
becki

She's not dun, because neither parent is dun.

She looks typical of dark bay to me. :) Got black from dad, and bay from her skewbald mum.

I reckon very dark brown/black.

She's dark bay, honestly. Dark bays are bays with the addition of a sooty gene, which causes the really dark pigment on the top of the horse, often extending down over the ribcage. Her belly is bay and lots of bays have that lighter colour on their soft parts.

She's not black - she wouldn't have that creamy colour on her soft parts or the red on her belly.

Like your TB x Friesian mix ours seem to come out in various shades of bay too, we have one that is a really milk chocolate colour - a bit lighter than your fillies, one is very dark, the others are various bright to light bays all with the mealy muzzles - looks cool though!
